Music Tuition
Tuition is given by experienced tutors either at West Wimbledon Primary School or at Merton Music Centre.
The choice of instruments offered at each school depends on the number of pupils who apply. If the instrument you require is not currently taught at West Wimbledon Primary School you may apply directly to Merton Music Centre for lessons outside school hours. Group, shared or individual lessons may be requested, and there are choices for the length of lessons. Pupils generally start with group lessons of between three and six pupils depending on the type of instrument. More advanced pupils progress to tuition on a shared or individual basis.
MMF offers tuition across the full range of instruments:
- Brass – Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
- Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
- Woodwind – Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone
- Percussion
- Piano
- Electric Keyboard
- Recorder
- Guitar
- Voice
On site tuition is available for piano, violin and guitar only, at this point in time: due to current parental demand. A greater range of instrument tuition might be available within school should a sufficient number of West Wimbledon parents choose a particular instrument.
Merton Music Foundation’s website now makes it even easier to find out information about the instruments taught, the cost and what else might be available.
Children are usually taught on a rota basis so they don’t miss the same lessons each week.
The School is very fortunate to work in partnership with Merton Music Foundation (MMF).
